  my wife found this 1/4 page ad on page 2 of yesterday's nj star-ledger, probably the biggest newspaper in nj.

  My only contention is that this is going to be extremely hard even if they win, it is not a slam dunk for future cases. --RO

  I do not think any of this will be a slam dunk.

  I also do not think that this firm went to the trouble of all this publicity with the mindset, "I think we'll win very little if anything."

  What I think this firm (and whoever their associated firms are) brings to the table is bringing lawsuits en masse against WT -- something we haven't seen with the Zalkin/Simons one-offs here and there around the country.

  Again, we'll see what happens.

  interestingly Erin Brockovich works with the company - yeah you know that Erin Brockovich, as in Julia Roberts who won the Oscar for playing Erin Brockovich in the accalimed film called 'Erin Brockovich' -- DARKSPILVER

  I had no idea. That is wild! Thanks for sharing the info.

  Again, as long as they suck WT dry and do right by their clients, good for them.

  And as far as the speculation as to what precedent there is for suing or how successful lawsuits are, time will tell. Let's see what happens.

  Just the notoriety SUCKS for WT.

  They're all about appearances, and this doesn't appear to be so great.

  ok, so i don't know if this is "old news", and if this has been seen, and or mentioned already.

  if it was, i do apologize, but i feel i have to mention what has been seen on tv, within the past 24 hours.. first off, i would like to say that i did not personally see this commercial.

  however, it was seen by someone that i can verify 100% is telling the truth, as it was my own father who saw it.

  Has WT actually drafted an End of Days tract?

  i heard in years past that there was such a tract planned for the great tribulation.

  my father at the time denied this, and reasoned that that would not be a loving thing for them to do, to essentially say, "told ya so!".

  last year, the bunker videos had brother brown mention "a message of judgment".. has such material been drafted or is this just another bluff?.

  the following article will address these questions, and attempt to answer them.. after helping jwfacts with his page on animal suffering, i decided to write this article.. it is mainly aimed at helping jehovahs witnesses and other believers in god to think about the issue, as well as the apparent contradictions in watchtower teaching.. thanks must go to jwfacts for the encouragement, and giving me permission to use an image from his page and to use some of the quotes.. also, thankyou to cofty for general moral support.. please let me know what you think everybody, and feel free to reproduce any part or all of the article on any other website, just post and let me know that you've used it on your site please..   They have teamed up with a firm that has specialized in child abuse cases for the expertise in handling the emotions that would come up with clients in dealing with this. -- RICHARD OLIVER

  It does really seem that way.

  Some of the wording in the ad in spot-on:

  It's not too late to receive help and seek accountability for those responsible. This is not something to be handled privately by the Watchtower!

  Also the website:

  Allegedly, more than 25 years ago, the Jehovah’s Witness’ Governing Body, the group of men who make and approve all policies, sent a memo to the elders of all 14,000 congregations stating that child sex abuse is a private matter and shouldn’t be discussed with anyone, especially the police. The memo also stated that revealing child sex abuse to law enforcement would result in punishment.
  It is believed that elders were instead instructed to fill out a form when abuse occurred. These forms were then scanned into a database. This leads investigators to believe that there are thousands of hidden records of sexual abuse within the Jehovah’s Witnesses.

  This isn't some cookie-cutter operation. They've obviously done their homework.

  It is exciting news, but I think it is wise to double check the reputations of the law firms involved before getting too carried away. There are a few comments on the reddit forum that have chastened my enthusiasm a little. -- COBWEB

  I agree 100%.

  When I've heard Rick Simons or Irwin Zalkin talk about their cases, they really do seem intent not only on righting an injustice with regards to their respective clients, but they also talk about effecting change on WT's child abuse policy.

  When I heard Weitz & Luxenberg was the source of these ads, the first words that popped into my mind were "ambulance chasers," "slip-and-fall" and "sharks."

  That being said, I personally don't care what their intentions are, as long as they sue the shit out of WT and get their clients what they deserve. WT hasn't been open to learning any lessons anyway.
